TWILIGHT RACES

As the working year winds down and the season of celebration approaches now is the perfect time to plan that long overdue catch up with friends and family and head trackside for an afternoon of twilight racing at Doomben Racecourse. GAMES NIGHT

Head to Baedeker Wine Bar, at 111 Constance St, Fortitude Valley, for the Christmas edition of Cluedo. The Interactive Game, on Saturday, December 8, from 7pm. It’s the classic who-done-it board game but in real life roleplay, staged by Brisbane Immersive Ensemble, and with a Christmas twist. Included in the $185 ticket is a food buffet and drinks. NORTHEY ST ORGANIC MARKET

BRUNCH CLUB

Touted as Brisbane’s version of New York’s Brunch Party, this event at Bernie Lane, 315 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley, sees revellers enjoy three hours of a “bottomless” brunch from 11.30am on December 9. Packages start at $49 — $109. Information at eventbrite.

VILLAGE MARKET

ARTS AND CRAFT

Stafford Heights Baptist Church will have its arts and crafts market from 8am-noon Saturday, ¬December 8. The thrift shop, sausage sizzle and courtyard cafe will be open. It is at 268 Appleby Rd, Stafford Heights.

CHRISTMAS SHOW

Northside Concert Orchestras, together with the Swingalicious Big Band will hold its concert The Sounds of Christmas on Sunday, December 9, at Genesis Christian College, Bray Park, starting at 2pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.

CHORAL CONCERT

U3A Pine Rivers’ choral groups — The Concordia Choir and Kumbartcho Singers — will combine to present an afternoon of popular songs and Christmas Carols from 2pm on Saturday, December 8, at the Rivers Baptist Church, 70 Francis Rd, Lawnton.

Entry is by a gold coin donation.

US RAPPER

SANTA’S BREAKFAST

Westfield North Lakes is hosting Santa’s Breakfast on Saturday, 7.30-8:30am with delicious festive food that the whole family can enjoy, complete with Santa, Christmas characters, face painters and balloon twisters. Each child has the chance to win prizes.

CABOOLTURE CAROLS

SANDSTONE POINT CAROLS

SCARBOROUGH CAROLS

Scarborough Beach Park, Sunday, 3-8pm, family-friendly entertainment, Santa’s village with free activities and workshops, roving Christmas performers, twilight markets, a life-size snow globe and Christmas tree, fireworks from 7.45pm. Free entry.

REDCLIFFE SANTA VISIT

Santa will visit the Redcliffe Lions Sunday markets between 9-10.30am this week and next. There will be gifts for children as well. The market at the Redcliffe Showground is on every Sunday from 6-11am. There is food and drink for sale, fresh fruit and vegetables and a great mix of old and new items. Entry to the market is via a 20 cent donation.

COUNTRY MUSIC

The Blue Denim Country Music Club’s next social event is on December 9 from 12.30pm at Progress Hall, 34 Cornelius St, Clontarf. Entry is $6 and all are welcome. The guest artist is Partners in Thyme. Phone 3865 3732.

This fun event is on December 9 from 5.30-8.30pm, East Brisbane State School, 56 Wellington Rd, East Brisbane. Sausage sizzle, coffee from Lola Coffee and a scrumptious cake stall. DRAG SHOW

GINGERBREAD DECORATING

Westfield Carindale has a free gingerbread decorating workshop on Saturday. Each child will be provided with pre-baked gingerbread pieces, royal icing, piping bags, cake boards, lolly and cake decorations, to create their own gingerbread masterpieces. St John’s Anglican Church Bulimba holds a Christmas Fair on December 9. In the morning from 9am to 11am you’ll be able to buy all your Christmas homemade goodies: cakes and puddings, jams and pickles, biscuits and slices. EP LAUNCH

Chelmer musician Dave Power has a deep and colourful songbook. His music — typically heartfelt country and blues tunes — looks at the world from every different angle. POP-UP MARKET

MOVIE IN THE PARK

MEMORIAL FOR LOVED ONES

Riverside Community Church, Glenwood St, Chelmer, invites the community to a memorial service for friends and families to remember those they have loved and lost. Bring a chair or blanket and sit back as Goodna Lights up with the cheer of Christmas. Glow sticks will be available for purchase on the night and there will be raffles. All proceeds will go back to helping the homeless and those in need within the community.

CAROL WONDERS

Don’t miss it at Robelle Domain on December 8. This year, the Christmas carols are themed a Night of Wonders, A far away Christmas. The program kicks off at 6.15pm with the fireworks launching at 8.30pm. Food, drinks and fun glowing products will be available to purchase.

The Springfield City Group Carols at Robelle Domain are presented by The Greater Springfield Combined Churches. The pre program starts at 5.30pm.

MOVIE IN THE PARK

AVID Property Group’s annual Brentwood Forest Christmas in the Park event is on again, this year to be held in the community’s new $1.4 million Tucker Family Park on Saturday 8 December, from 4:30pm.

Brentwood Forest residents and the wider community are invited to get together this festive season to enjoy Christmas carols performed by Bellbird Park State Secondary College and a free outdoor screening of a family-favourite Christmas movie.

There will be a sausage sizzle and popcorn and a visit by Santa.

The movie starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 8.30pm in Tucker Family Park, Alesana Drive, Bellbird Park remember to bring your picnic blankets.
